I been reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn. It's been really interesting to look at what specific Scriptures actually have to say about Heaven. I think most of my ideas of what it's like aren't based on the Bible.
For instance, there are Scriptures that actually indicate that we are continuing to learn while we're in Heaven and that there is some awareness of what is happening on earth. I wonder if my mom is reading this blog?
And, I never really thought of this before, but, the Heaven that exists now is not the same as the one that will exist after Christ returns to set up His kingdom.
When my mom first told me about Heaven, I was a little nervous about the trip. Flying through the air and all sounded kind of scary. I remember asking her if she would hold my hand when we went to Heaven.
So, what are your thoughts about Heaven? I'd love to hear them.

I've heard that is a really good book. Do you have your own copy? If so, can I borrow it when you are done? My thoughts of heaven so far are that we really don't know what it will be like, but that it will be great and that we will have actual bodies which will be perfect. Yea - no dieting!
Chris
Ooooo, my husband read this book and absolutely loved it. I'll have to read it too! I've loved some of Randy Alcorn's stuff.
I'm always wondering about people who have more than one spouse on earth (through widowing or divorce). Will we still be married in heaven? And how will that work if we are?
All I know is that I'm so excited to get up there. I wonder if we'll get to find out the answers to mysteries like who really killed JFK? How did Cain have children (were there other women created, or did God give him a sister to procreate with)? I've got lots of strange questions for God.
I recently read 90 minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. He was dead for 90 minutes and walked up to the pearly gates and saw in... he had cool things to say....pulsating joy, a celetial welcoming committee of whom all had contributed to his spiritual growth..."a heightened awareness of the senses, as if [he] had never seen, heard, or felt anything so real before." "...first class buffet for the senses" "the melodies of praise filled the atmosphere" "hundred of songs were being sung at the same time" "every sound blended, each enhanced the others, yet, I could clearly distinguish each song." Also a book by John Eldrige (might have been Sacred Romance) seems to imply that we will fulfill the purpose for which we were created, each in our own gifting.
Rachel...Jesus answered your question about whether we will be married- in the gospel of Mark 12: 18-27. "When the dead rise, they will neither marry, nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven"(25).
Kristina and Rachel,
There will be one marriage in Heaven. That's our marriage to Christ. Our good marriages at their very best are just a tiny glimpse of the intimacy we will share with Christ.
However, doesn't it makes sense that we will still have close relationships with those people we already are close to. Fellowship, relationship, community... these existed before sin entered the world. There is no reason to think that those dear to us on earth will be nothing special in eternity.
Chris,
Yes, I bought the book. You may borrow it!

stifflersTotally agree, Amy! :) Can't wait for relationships unblemished by sin! -And a Kristina living my greatest potential...I wonder what that will look like!
